Empowering young explorers to safely make the most of the web in ways that advance and enrich their lives for the better.

Online safety is an important subject in our schools, homes and communities. Not just for young explorers, taking their first steps into an ever-changing digital environment, but also for teachers, key workers, professionals and parents responsible for their welfare and development.

In working together, we can make the online world a safer, better place. Through learning, discovery and the sharing of new ideas, we can all make a positive difference, helping children of every age to safely make the most of digital technologies in ways that positively impact their lives now and for the future.

"Pupils with SEND struggle to transfer skills learnt in the classroom to the outside world. Often pupils with SEND can verbalise a rule and recite how to stay safe, but fail to notice the risks when they occur in the moment. Pupils with SEND are often captivated by devices and technology, with skills which surpass their generalised ability to access the world around them. This too causes additional risk and vulnerability as pupils are exposed to potential risks by chance. Pupils with SEND maybe developmentally and cognitively impaired, however more often than not, their online experience is similar to their neuro-typical peers. Special Agents creates an open dialogue with pupils, staff and parents about what pupils are doing online and how to do it safely."

Online safety is a fundamental part of safeguarding responsibilities to children and young people with SEND. But more importantly, it's a crucial aspect of empowering them to safely achieve more and without limitations.
