1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
E Safety Training Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, in line with the UK Government target and Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 06/21: Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the Procurement of Major Government Contracts.
As a small organisation delivering primarily digital, education, consultancy and training-based services, our direct emissions are low. We recognise, however, that all organisations have a responsibility to understand, monitor and reduce their environmental impact. We are therefore committed to reducing emissions associated with our operations, programme delivery, business travel, digital infrastructure, purchased services and supply chain activity.
This Carbon Reduction Plan sets out our current position, the actions already in place, and the practical steps we will take to reduce emissions further while maintaining safe, effective and accessible delivery for schools, local authorities, commissioners, staff, children and young people.
2. Purpose and Scope
The purpose of this plan is to provide a clear, proportionate and bid-ready statement of how E Safety Training Limited manages carbon reduction and environmental responsibility across its work.
This plan applies to:
- all employees, directors, consultants, trainers, contractors and subcontractors working on behalf of E Safety Training Limited;
- all services delivered to schools, local authorities, police and crime commissioners, children’s services, charities, community partners and other commissioners;
- digital programme delivery, online training, face-to-face training, consultancy, meetings, travel, printed resources, purchased goods and services;
- the design, maintenance and delivery of programmes including I-vengers, Special Agents, AI-vengers and associated online safety training and support.
3. Reporting Framework
This plan has been prepared with reference to PPN 06/21 and associated Carbon Reduction Plan guidance. It reflects the Greenhouse Gas Protocol categories of Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions, and will be reviewed at least annually.
Where emissions are currently estimated rather than independently verified, this is stated transparently. E Safety Training Limited will continue to improve the quality of its emissions data through business mileage tracking, supplier review, digital service review and annual internal assessment.
4. Organisational Context
E Safety Training Limited operates a low-emissions delivery model. Most services are digital, scalable and education-based, with programme materials hosted online and accessed by schools through digital platforms. This reduces reliance on printed materials, courier distribution, routine commuting and repeated in-person delivery.
Our main emissions are expected to arise from indirect activities rather than owned assets. These include occasional business travel, home and office working energy, digital hosting, cloud-based systems, use of devices, purchased services and any physical programme materials such as badges or printed items where these are commissioned.
5. Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline year: 2025-2026. The baseline has been assessed on a proportionate basis for a small, service-based organisation. Current emissions are low and are primarily indirect. The organisation does not own a vehicle fleet and does not operate high-energy premises.
| Emissions area | Current position | Estimated impact | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scope 1: Direct emissions | No owned vehicles; no direct fuel combustion from owned operational premises. | Minimal / expected zero for owned sources | Any future owned vehicle or direct fuel use would be recorded and reported. |
| Scope 2: Purchased electricity | Low-energy home/office-based working and use of standard digital equipment. | Low | Where electricity is not separately metered, a proportionate estimate will be used during annual review. |
| Scope 3: Indirect emissions | Business travel, digital infrastructure, purchased services, occasional physical resources and supplier activity. | Low to moderate | This is the main area for ongoing monitoring and reduction. |
The key emissions contributors are:
- travel to schools, commissioner meetings, conferences and partner events;
- use of digital platforms, hosting, cloud-based systems and online communication tools;
- use and replacement of laptops, phones and other devices;
- home and office working energy consumption;
- purchased services and any subcontracted activity;
- limited physical resources, where these are required for programme delivery.
6. Current Carbon Reduction Measures
E Safety Training Limited already operates a low-carbon delivery model, with sustainability embedded into how services are designed, delivered and scaled.
| Measure | Current approach | Carbon reduction benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Digital-first programme delivery | I-vengers, Special Agents and AI-vengers are delivered primarily through secure online programme materials, digital missions, videos and downloadable resources. | Reduces printing, postage, courier use and repeated in-person delivery. |
| Remote and recorded training | Training and support can be delivered live online, through recorded input, digital briefings and virtual support sessions. | Reduces travel, venue use and associated emissions. |
| Reduced reliance on physical resources | Schools access core materials digitally. Physical materials are used only where they add clear value to engagement, inclusion or programme identity. | Limits paper, packaging and distribution emissions. |
| Efficient working practices | The organisation uses cloud-based systems, remote working, digital meetings and shared documents. | Reduces commuting, office energy and unnecessary travel. |
| Proportionate face-to-face delivery | Where in-person delivery is needed, sessions are planned to maximise value and reduce repeat journeys. | Supports essential safeguarding and education outcomes while limiting travel. |
7. Planned Carbon Reduction Actions
We are committed to continuous improvement. Our approach is practical, proportionate and designed to reduce emissions without reducing safeguarding quality, accessibility or impact for schools and children.
| Timescale | Planned actions | Expected impact |
|---|---|---|
| Short term: 1-2 years | Continue to prioritise remote delivery where appropriate; reduce non-essential travel; combine visits and meetings where possible; increase use of digital engagement tools; introduce simple business mileage and travel tracking. | Improved visibility of travel emissions and reduced unnecessary journeys. |
| Medium term: 3-5 years | Review suppliers and purchased services with sustainability in mind; consider lower-carbon hosting and digital services where feasible; improve monitoring of Scope 3 activity; reduce avoidable printing and packaging. | Stronger supply chain oversight and reduced indirect emissions. |
| Long term: by 2050 | Further reduce Scope 3 emissions through service design; continue to scale digital delivery; consider credible offsetting only where emissions cannot reasonably be avoided or reduced; review progress annually against Net Zero commitment. | Maintains alignment with Net Zero by 2050 and supports long-term environmental responsibility. |
8. Contract-Specific Environmental Arrangements
For commissioned work, E Safety Training Limited will seek to reduce the environmental impact of delivery by planning services efficiently from mobilisation onwards.
This may include:
- using online meetings for mobilisation, review and routine support wherever appropriate;
- delivering digital resources through secure portals or shared platforms rather than printed packs;
- combining school visits geographically where face-to-face delivery is required;
- limiting travel by using train or shared travel options where practical and proportionate;
- using digital evaluation, surveys and reporting wherever possible;
- reviewing any physical items such as badges, certificates, printed resources or promotional materials to minimise waste and unnecessary distribution;
- working with commissioners to balance carbon reduction, value for money, safeguarding quality and accessibility.
9. Roles and Responsibilities
The Director has overall responsibility for this Carbon Reduction Plan and for ensuring that environmental considerations are included in organisational decision-making.
All employees, contractors and subcontractors are expected to support the organisation’s carbon reduction aims by:
- avoiding unnecessary travel;
- using digital meetings and resources where appropriate;
- recording business mileage or travel information when requested;
- using equipment responsibly and extending device life where safe and practical;
- avoiding unnecessary printing;
- raising opportunities to reduce waste, emissions or inefficient working practices.
Where subcontractors are used, environmental expectations will be proportionate to the nature and value of the subcontracted activity.
10. Supplier and Subcontractor Management
E Safety Training Limited recognises that a meaningful Carbon Reduction Plan must include consideration of purchased goods, services and subcontracted delivery. We will take a proportionate approach to supplier and subcontractor environmental management.
This may include:
- considering environmental credentials when selecting suppliers, where relevant and proportionate;
- prioritising digital delivery and low-waste products where practical;
- asking subcontractors to follow agreed travel, printing and resource-use expectations;
- reviewing suppliers where there is significant spend, repeated use or material environmental impact;
- avoiding unnecessary duplication of resources, journeys or physical products.
11. Monitoring, Measurement and Review
This plan will be reviewed at least annually, and sooner if there is a significant change to the organisation, contract delivery model, travel requirements, premises use, subcontracting arrangements or applicable procurement guidance.
Monitoring will focus on the areas most relevant to a small education and consultancy provider:
- business mileage and travel patterns;
- use of remote delivery compared with face-to-face delivery;
- use of printed materials and physical resources;
- major digital, hosting or cloud-based services;
- significant purchased services or subcontracted delivery;
- opportunities to improve efficiency without reducing service quality or accessibility.
The annual review will consider progress against planned actions and identify any further measures needed to support the Net Zero by 2050 commitment.
12. Environmental Positioning
The organisation’s delivery model is inherently low carbon because it is built around scalable digital programme delivery, centralised online content distribution and remote support. This enables efficient large-scale delivery without requiring a proportionate increase in travel, printing, venue use or physical logistics.
This approach supports sustainability while also improving accessibility, reach and value for money for schools and commissioners. It allows schools to access consistent, high-quality online safety education and safeguarding support without unnecessary environmental impact.
13. Declaration and Sign-Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed with reference to PPN 06/21 and associated guidance for Carbon Reduction Plans. It reflects the current size, structure and delivery model of E Safety Training Limited and will be reviewed and updated annually.
E Safety Training Limited confirms its commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 and to taking practical, proportionate steps to reduce emissions associated with its operations and service delivery.
